Artist's Description

Crater Lake National Park is one of the most spectacular places I have had the pleasure to visit, quite by accident. I was on my way to Lake Tahoe, a three day drive from where I was living. I hadn't done any research in advance. My plan was to overnight in Klamath, a nearby city. As I drove by signs to a "national park", my curiosity got the best of me. Ears popping as I drove up to the crater, I was increasingly excited about what might be at the end of that day's journey. It was June, but there was still snow dotting the rim of the crater. I took as many pictures as I could during this short stay and left, exhilarated by the beauty and power of this ancient volcano within a volcano.
